about

This song is named for the ride cymbal/hi-hat part in the trumpet solos. I'd first heard this rhythm 30 years ago while jamming with drummer, Jeff Magby, in my father's garage. I held onto that rhythm until I wrote the full song this year.

lyrics

When the sun has set on another day
And your dreams have grown and moved away
Win? Lose? No longer matters to you

What to do now? Or is it where to go?
Perception informs satisfaction

Luck and persistence prepared for these days
Time is fleeting and slips away
A new occupation? Variation on a theme?
Now is the freedom to chase another dream
To chase another dream
